Madelyn Rouse is an operatic soprano and Jackson, Michigan native whose early exposure to community musical theater sparked a lifelong passion for storytelling through music. These formative experiences opened the door to dedicated classical study and led her to train at the renowned Interlochen Arts Academy, followed by a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from DePaul University in Chicago.
Praised for her colorful, rich, and velvety voice, Madelyn has studied with acclaimed vocalists including soprano Amanda Majeski and tenor Scott Ramsay. Her performance background spans opera, musical theatre, oratorio, sacred repertoire, and art song. She has performed in Italian, French, German, Czech, and English, with repertoire including works by Mozart, Puccini, Strauss, Schubert, and Gounod. She is especially passionate about collaborative recital work and curating programs that invite listeners into a shared musical experience—favorites include Shepherd on the Rock (D. 965) and Bach’s Wedding Cantata (BWV 202).
Madelyn has participated in masterclasses with sopranos Judith Haddon and Elisabeth Caballero and studied vocal pedagogy under Dr. Chuck Chandler. She also premiered Marbles, a cross-disciplinary collaborative project featured on Interlochen Public Radio, and studied abroad in Urbino, Italy, where she deepened her understanding of the Italian language and operatic tradition.
Outside of music, Madelyn is a passionate traveler working toward a goal of visiting thirty countries by age thirty. She enjoys time in nature—especially near water—and quiet evenings with her partner, Joe, and their rescue dog, Hippo.
